Prayer is the Answer

For many years our nation has endured the scourge of abortion.  Those who know say we have destroyed over 44 million babies in the time since aborting children at any time in a pregnancy for any reason has become the law in our country.  It can seem very discouraging for people who want to value life, and who are loyal Americans and whose hearts break when they see the evil our society is tolerating and sometimes encouraging.

No matter how big the problem, no matter how strong the enemy, no matter how difficult and distant the solution may seem, God is bigger than all of it.  He is the one who can change people’s hearts.  He is the one who can bring the most powerful nation to repent of its sins.  And He is the one to whom we must turn to guide us to becoming a nation that respects life from womb to tomb.

Let us pray to the creator of all life and the one to whom all life belongs.

Father of all creation.  You have made us in Your image and likeness, with a mind and heart to know and love You above all things.  Help us to respect the dignity and worth with which You have endowed each human being.  Enable us to treat all people as our brothers and sisters to whom You have given the same eternal goal of being happy with You for all eternity.

Give us the wisdom and courage to defend and protect the rights of all persons.  We lift up all mothers tempted to chose the painful solution of abortion to solve an unwanted pregnancy.  Help them to see other options and be supported by their family and others in life-giving choices.  Aid us in nurturing Your gift of human life from conception until natural death.  Guide the minds and hearts of our elected leaders and justices to respect the dignity of all innocent life and to make policies and laws protecting the most vulnerable among us.  Provide us with the resources to assist those whose lives are endangered by abortion, euthanasia, infanticide, or any other means of destruction and abuse.  We ask this in Your Son’s name, Jesus, Who died and rose from the dead for all mankind, in union with the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.
